Thermoforming or vacuum forming is a process that consists of heating a semi-finished thermoplastic plate or sheet, so that when softened it can adapt to the shape of a mold by the action of vacuum pressure or by means of a countermold.

#EDCD Meetings of Design and Digital Culture it is a semi permanent program around digital creative practices that takes place at Medialab Prado in Madrid since 2014. #EDCD aims to create a meeting space between different art and design educational entities, professionals, students and people interested in the world of digital culture. Its objective is to promote the exchange of knowledge and experiences, in addition to favoring common and transdisciplinary work around the question: What implications does digital culture have for the practice of arts and design?

Inbounded, 2020.

Inbounded (2020) is a single player experience, a soft toy about survival affordances. A dream about being in control, but being trapped. You manage the tension between the drive to explore space with the fact that the more you explore the more people appear.

Formally, this digital playground tries to relax the boundaries of mainstream ludic procedural systems. There are no punishments, it has no specific goals, you just get conditioned by the digital environment «natural» laws while toying around. Nevertheless, without being a crunchy (mechanics heavy) experience it attemps to convey a very oppressive aesthetic model.

Falling apart (2018) is a split-screen short local multiplayer on identities and belong. Interdependencies being part of your life.

Se trata de un diseño multijugador local, en pantalla dividida, sobre identidades y pertenencia “Interdependencias formando parte de tu vida”. El uso de Shaders Unlit (renderización de materiales que ni refleja ni absorbe iluminación) dificultan la lectura del hecho espacial porque el reto en un diseño de interacción no tiene porqué ser siempre un big boss (denominación del enemigo final en los videojuegos de acción).
El modelo estético de esta pieza de software lúdico presenta disonancias y tensiones entre diferentes rasgos formales del diseño; la experiencia individual de conexión/desconexión entre las personas jugadoras, los objetivos compartidos y las necesidades propias de cada personaje y un acercamiento audiovisual amable en contradicción con una retórica procedural densa y adulta.

El diseño está mapeado para tener dos controles en tercera persona simultáneos (uno con mando y otro con teclado y ratón). La pantalla se divide de tal modo que cada una de las personas jugadoras puede ver ambas cámaras a la vez. La idea es que las dos personas jugadoras estén condicionadas por “la mirada” y la distancia al otro.
